BMR Academy Dominate at East Anglian Trophy
The BMR Academy boys enjoyed another successful weekend at the 2018 East Anglian Trophy Meeting, Rounds 5 & 6 of the Hunts Kart Racing Club Championship.
Thomas Fleming and Jack Dan continued their good form enjoying a strong weekend in the Junior X30 category with Tom Lebbon taking the overall X30 win with an outstanding haul of points over the course of the weekend.
Tom set the pace throughout the weekend and displayed an outstanding drive in Saturdays two heats and A final winning all three races. Sunday started well for Tom taking the win in the first two heats but then losing out in the final. Although Tom finished 4th overall, he was handed a drop down penalty dropping him down the field to 12th.
Tom said “My weekend at kimbolton was a very good and positive one. I have made progress with the BMR team and their support. I am learning and moving forward, with three podiums in the last month and I am looking forward to the rest of my first year in junior x 30”.
Sunday’s A Final win was taken by teammate Thomas Fleming, who’s luck wasn’t on his side earlier on in the weekend with a disqualification from the first heat of Round 5 after failing technical regulations due to exhaust weld issues. He had a mixed bag of top ten results throughout the weekend and with a lot of determination and perseverance he got the job done taking the win for Round 6.
Thomas said: “Saturdays racing was riddled with poor luck starting P16 for the final in the wet, yet a really good drive got me to P2 literally just behind the leader. Sunday was a pretty good way to end the weekend, coming away with 1st place in the last final when starting from P6. Compared to the earlier part of the weekend where we had a lot of bad luck, the victory was really surprising. Very good performance from BMR all weekend literally winning every single race of the entire weekend.”
Jack Dan blew the cobwebs away this weekend, after missing a few earlier rounds, enjoying a very positive weekend, with great results to show for it, finishing in the top six all weekend.
Jack said: “Second weekend out racing of 2018 with a strong grid of Junior X30, going into this weekend I had no expectations and to come home with 5th was a great result, it was good to be fighting up the front and to have the pace with the second fastest lap of the weekend. This wouldn’t have been possible without the help, advice & support from BMR Academy, I am so grateful for the opportunity I have been given”.
