April 15th saw round 2 of the LGM Series (Little Green Man) at Larkhall in Scotland and it proved a great weekend for 15-year-old Tom Fleming from taking victory in the Junior X30.
After an excellent practice and heats, the rain came to the final of the Junior X30 and with a wet track, the drivers used slick tyres as the weather changed. Tom took the tricky conditions all in his stride and took the win from series leader Georgi Divitrov.
Fifteen-year-old Tom who has been with the BMR Academy for two years commented “It was such an incredible weekend. Going into the weekend I needed a good result and boy did we come away with one. The team has been working so hard outside the track to give me the best chance of winning so it’s good to give something back. It’s also really incredible to see the improvements the team and myself have made over the winter and it’s made a huge difference on the track and this result really shows it.
“The conditions were some of the hardest I’ve ever driven in but we managed to pull away lapping a second a lap so it’s nice to reflect on how far I’ve come as well.“
BMR Academy Team Manager, Ben Platten commented “I would like to say how well Tom drove at Larkhall LGM but especially in the final as the conditions where very difficult. Tom was in third at the time catching the front two runners but then it rained heavily and all drivers were on slicks. Toms driving stuck out from the rest as he was over a second faster than the front two runners which meant he caught them quickly, over took them and pulled away.”
Round 3 of the LGM Junior X30 Championship is at Kimbolton on June 10th.
